Programs

CenCal Mentoring Academy is a comprehensive program that connects dropouts, truants, troubled and suspended youth to programs and services that will lead them to success both academically and personally.  The program strives to bring habitually truant students back into the educational system by providing them with the necessary guidance, accountability, resources and character to become good citizens both in the classroom and the community.

We are a character and values driven organization. We believe that love, honor, respect and accountability are essential qualities of a healthy individual and a meaningful life.

Program Goals

  • Increase Graduation Percentages

  • Increase Attendance

  • Reduce Discipline Referrals

  • Create opportunities for students to develop and practice life skills

  • Strengthen the family network at home

  • Create a sense of community pride and spirit

  • Reduce the “Wealth Gap” by providing “at-risk” students with workforce training

Prevention/Intervention

The Prevention/Intervention Programs are designed to help keep students on track academically while strengthening their social, emotional and interpersonal skills. Our goal is to change the way the student performs at school, home, and in the community.

We use a 26-week evidence-based life and social skill development curriculum that is integrated with restorative justice strategies to attain the measurable outcomes necessary to achieve the greatest level of success.

Teachers, Educators, Administrators and Mentors will determine the student candidates for the program.

Each identified student will be provided with the following support:

¨ 26-week Life & Social Skill curriculum

¨ Mentoring (one-on-one and small groups)

¨ 14 week Anger Management  Course

¨ Parenting  Classes

¨ Boy/Girl Talk Group Sessions

¨ Alcohol & Drug Awareness

¨ Job/Career Readiness

¨ Motivational Speakers

¨ Community Outreach Activities

Immersion Mentoring

CenCal Mentoring 5 Day Immersion Mentoring Program

The CenCal Mentoring Academy will implement its “T.E.A.M. Approach” at one school 5 days each week. The “T.E.A.M. Approach” transitions troubled or at-risk students from early intervention to prevention to successful academic achievement.  The “T.E.A.M. APPROACH” is a collaboration of efforts by the Teachers, Educators, Administrators and Mentors on each campus to provide early intervention that will lead the identified students to measurable prevention results. The Teachers, Educators and Administrators at each school site will select troubled or at-risk students who are in need of this early intervention support.

CenCal Mentoring 5 Day Tri-mersion Mentoring Program

The CenCal Mentoring Academy will implement its “Tri-mersion T.E.A.M. Approach” at one high school 5 days per week, one middle school feeder 5 days per week, and up to 4 elementary school feeders 3 hours per week. The Tri-mersion approach allows us to provide a seamless approach to the mentoring by engaging students as early as 5th grade and continue to work with them through 12th grade if necessary. We believe that this approach will reduce the number of middle and high school students with poor attendance, behavior and academic issues, and will significantly reduce dropout rates.

CenCal Mentoring 5 Day Comprehensive Immersion Mentoring Program

The CenCal Mentoring Academy will implement its “Comprehensive Immersion – T.E.A.M. Approach” at one high school 5 days per week, one middle school feeder 5 days per week, up to 4 elementary feeder schools 6-12 hours per week, and a 6 week summer school session for transitioning 6th and 8th grade students.  The Comprehensive Immersion approach allows us to provide a seamless approach to the mentoring by engaging students as early as 5th grade and continue to work with them through 12th grade, if necessary. We believe that this approach will reduce the number of middle and high school students with poor attendance, behavior and academic issues, and will significantly reduce dropout rates.

Mobile Mentoring

CenCal Mobile Mentoring team will visit two identified sites within your district 2-3 times each week. This will allow the team to facilitate the needed mentoring services on each campus

2-3 days each week or 30 hour per month.

The rotation will allow the mentors to meet with all identified students on campus. The rotation will be determined by site administrators.
